The Ancient Egyptians believed that they were created by the god out of nothingness and if they did not worship them the gods would return the world to nothing. The Egyptians saw the gods in all aspects of their lives especially in the form of animals which is why a lot of gods had animal characteristics. The Egyptians used the legends and myths of the after life to explain some of the great mysteries of live and household would call upon certain gods to protect them from illness and misfortune. Temples and statues were erected all over Egypt in honour of the gods and there were many images in and around the city and in the tombs of the Pharaohs.
